Water and sewer rates fund Hillsborough's water and sewer fund. This enterprise fund pays for providing water and sewer service, including operating, maintaining and improving the water and sewer system.

The town's water and sewer rates are reviewed annually as part of the budget process. The rates schedule that is adopted with the budget becomes effective July 1 with the new fiscal year.

The average residential water and sewer use is about 3,620 gallons monthly. Each month, water and sewer customers who use the minimum amount charged or less spend a combined:

  • 2.8 cents per gallon in town.
  • 5.4 cents per gallon out of town.
