The Hillsborough Board of Commissioners met Monday, April 8 at the Town Hall Annex. Following is a brief summary of noteworthy actions. It does not include all actions taken at the meeting and should not be viewed as official minutes. The meeting is available to view on the town’s YouTube channel

Presentations 

Oath of office — Police Lt. Richard Hooks reaffirmed his oath of office with the Hillsborough Police Department. He joined the department in January. 

Stormwater — The board received an update on the town’s stormwater program including information on: 

  • Renewal of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit. 
  • Status of the Falls Lake Rule readoption process. The state-mandated rules that protect the water quality of Falls Lake, which the town’s watershed drains into. 
  • Green infrastructure on Odie Street  
  • Staffing updates and future needs 

Skate Park contract 

The board allocated $30,000 in construction contingency funds for the Skate Park project, allowing the Public Space Division to move forward with the contract approval process. 

Proclamation 

The board approved a proclamation designating the week of April 21 as Volunteer Appreciation Week. The proclamation encourages residents to recognize and thank volunteers who lend their time, talent and voice to make a difference in their communities.
